Jaela actually enjoyed her maternity leave. She got a check everyday for personal time off and, after buying a crib, expanded her garden a bit and spent hours every day watering, weeding, and chatting with her plants.

And yet, after what seemed like only days, she went into labor. She made a quick decision to call a cab to the hospital, and walked out the door.

Connor was across town at the time, interviewing a man whose name he immediately forgot. He had advanced enough in the Journalism career that he was doing actual writing, and interviews were taking up time that he would much rather be spending with Jaela or working on his book.

Luckily, Jaela got a hold of him, and he arrived at the hospital in a panic shortly after she did.

They both emerged soon after with their brand new baby girl, Carrie Anne. She was already showing signs of being a very Excitable child, and wailed, oohed, and gurgled the entire way home. Eventually though, they got her to sleep in her (fortunately) pink crib, and lay down to enjoy some time together, time that soon would be nearly non-existant.

However, the next morning, when Jaela sang a familiar tune to their single toilet, she began to worry they’d enjoyed their night too much.

Sure enough, the next night she turned up pregnant, and with some dismay delayed her dreams of Ruling the Free World a bit longer.

Shortly before Jaela’s due date, Carrie Anne’s birthday drew near. Connor and Jaela decided to hold a small party with a few friends who wouldn’t mind the unfinished and cramped state of their house.

Miserably though, nearly every one of those friends brought food, and spent the rest of the evening picking up plates of other offerings and then dropping them when they saw something more appealing. After the cake was sliced up, the house was a total mess. This was just another chapter to a lesson Jaela had learned early on- never invite other Sims over.

But of course, the main event was that Carrie Anne was now a toddler, and she was shaping up to be quite a beauty. She had inherited the Van Holdan hair and eyes, and her fathers round face.

No one was sure where she got that nose from though.
Connor settled down at their brand new desk to work on an article (his job had provided him with a laptop, which saved quite a few trips to the library in these early years) while Jaela entertained herself by trying to teach their new toddler how to walk until she went into labor.

When the labor started, Jaela, once again, was calm and collected. Connor…wasn’t.

They did eventually make it to the hospital, and there they had quite a surprise.
Jaela had given birth to twin girls, Caitlynne and Coral. Unfortunately, they hadn’t budgeted for twins, and they were seriously strapped for cash. (It was lucky the hospital in Pleasant Valley doesn’t charge!) And they had to sell their couch and T.V. to buy the necessities.

While Jaela and Connor were at the hospital, they’d called a babysitter to watch over little Carrie Anne. The problem was, even after selling their couch and T.V., they just didn’t have the funds to pay him for his time. So to compensate, he did something that I am 100% sure isn’t in any babysitters handbook. He stole little Carrie Anne’s toybox, then walked out the door, past Jaela and Connor, and left.

Oh my, stealing toys is not nice!

Not the toybox! That fiend. Yay for a household of girls, sim babies are always so cute (my poor sims suffer many births so I can play with the little things)! I’ve never seen a sim with the same name as me though, I think I’m going to like Carrie Anne
