Shortly before Jaela’s due date, Carrie Anne’s birthday drew near. Connor and Jaela decided to hold a small party with a few friends who wouldn’t mind the unfinished and cramped state of their house.

Miserably though, nearly every one of those friends brought food, and spent the rest of the evening picking up plates of other offerings and then dropping them when they saw something more appealing. After the cake was sliced up, the house was a total mess. This was just another chapter to a lesson Jaela had learned early on- never invite other Sims over.

But of course, the main event was that Carrie Anne was now a toddler, and she was shaping up to be quite a beauty. She had inherited the Van Holdan hair and eyes, and her fathers round face.

No one was sure where she got that nose from though.
Connor settled down at their brand new desk to work on an article (his job had provided him with a laptop, which saved quite a few trips to the library in these early years) while Jaela entertained herself by trying to teach their new toddler how to walk until she went into labor.

When the labor started, Jaela, once again, was calm and collected. Connor…wasn’t.




They did eventually make it to the hospital, and there they had quite a surprise.
Jaela had given birth to twin girls, Caitlynne and Coral. Unfortunately, they hadn’t budgeted for twins, and they were seriously strapped for cash. (It was lucky the hospital in Pleasant Valley doesn’t charge!) And they had to sell their couch and T.V. to buy the necessities.

While Jaela and Connor were at the hospital, they’d called a babysitter to watch over little Carrie Anne. The problem was, even after selling their couch and T.V., they just didn’t have the funds to pay him for his time. So to compensate, he did something that I am 100% sure isn’t in any babysitters handbook. He stole little Carrie Anne’s toybox, then walked out the door, past Jaela and Connor, and left.

As you might remember, Jaela has a Green Thumb and has, since her move, wanted to start a garden. Unfortunately, she’s just been too broke to even buy some fruit from the supermarket. The day after the wedding, Jaela stopped by to tell her good friend Simis the happy news. She was, as always, admiring their garden, when inspiration struck. After a quick glance to make sure everyone was inside, she, ah, made an investment towards her future garden.

When she got home, she proudly started her garden, now consisting of a single tomato plant.

The next morning, Jaela wasn’t feeling too hot.

But as she had to get to work, there was not point dwelling on it. after work, on the way home she stopped by the Bachelor’s to strip some more plants. She had realized that the supermarket would buy any fruit you had on you, no questions asked.

Then she ate dinner, wondered briefly where on earth her husband was, realized he was at the library working on his book, and went to sleep. She awoke in the middle of the night when the sudden, terrifying realization of what was wrong with her.

She was pregnant. This was not, of course, in the plan of becoming Leader of the Free World before she became a full-fledged Adult. Her bosses would insist she take maternity leave, and who knows what would happen in that time? Just as she was about to panic, she glanced over to where Connor was reading a book his editor had suggested he read. (He can certainly be a Bookworm) It was a bit of a reality check. After all, she was married, in love, and on the fast track towards a successful career. Maybe one little baby wasn’t the end of the world.

She would have child then continue on her journey to be the Ultimate Person in Politics. By the time she was off maternity leave, they would have enough money to hire a nanny, and being a mother wouldn’t be the time consuming task she thought it might be. And after all, this was what she had always wanted, right? To found her very own Family Legacy.

I mentioned that Jaela spent the last of her paycheck on a birthday cake. The rest of it she spent on an old black and white T.V.
It was the best investment of her life so far, although it did lead to some time management issues.

After work, Jaela was feeling pretty stressed, but luckily the best form of stress management came along.

His name was Xander Clavell, and as far as Jaela was concerned his personality didn’t matter- he was single, attractive, and what else do you need?
The only problem with her plan was that Xander is afraid of commitment. After a few attempts to establish any kind of deeper connection with him, she was forced to awkwardly say good bye and wander off, still unfulfilled in her desire to find a husband. Her fun bar, however, had filled up.

That day’s paycheck went towards creating a bathroom that was actually a separate room. Unfortunately, it didn’t go quite far enough, which was probably for the best anyways, as Jaela wouldn’t have been able to afford a door.

The next day after work, in a style she was getting used to, she met a young attractive man on the steps to City Hall.

This one, however, was different. He introduced himself as Connor Frio, and they hit it off immediately. However, he had a girlfriend, River McIrish, so Jaela didn’t dare to make a move on him. She was just established in this town, she couldn’t afford to have an enemy!
A few days later, Jaela had secured enough funds to build an actual enclosed bedroom/bathroom, and felt confident enough in her position in life to invite Connor over. As they sat, enjoying their separate activities, Jaela realized that this might really be the man for her.

She invited him to stay the night, and the next day asked him to leave his girlfriend. (After all, what could little River have to offer that could possibly be better than what Jaela had? Other than an actual house, that is.)

His answer was, of course, yes.
And a few hours later, she asked him a different question.

Recently, she fell for a bad boy from Strangetown. For her parents, this was the last straw, so they kicked her out with nothing to her name but a deed to a large lot just outside of a little town called Sunset Valley and, well, her name. She made the move with a surprising amount of optimism. She’d always felt that she had a destiny to start a Family Legacy all her own.

You see, family is very important to Jaela because she’s family oriented, which makes her parents betrayal all the worse. However, due to her upbringing, she’s a bit of a Snob, which unfortunately is just a Van Holdan Family Trait. She makes up for her tendency to look down on others by being very Charismatic, and she’s always had a knack for making friends easily. She also loves getting her hands dirty, literally, and people often say she has a Green Thumb. Above all though, Jaela is Ambitious, and will stop at nothing to see that her goals are accomplished. In this case, her goal, beyond building up a Family Legacy, is to be the Leader of the Free World.
